When the ball drops at midnight, many of us are already thinking of all we want to accomplish in the new year. 2019 will be the year you get it all done. Right? But then by mid-January we’re dragging, losing that go-getter attitude we had. And why? Most experts say it’s because our lists are TOO big, TOO overwhelming and we’re doomed to fail from the start. So this year, how can you make sure you create resolutions that you’ll follow through on? A few tips:
- Be realistic. Pick an achievable goal and plan it in small increments, notating benchmarks along the way.
- Don’t go crazy. Pick one to three real goals to focus on, instead of too many.
- Plan. Whether you use Google Calendar, or a pen and paper planner, write down the things you want to achieve.
- Lean on friends and family. Let them in on your goals and ask for help accomplishing them.
- Stay positive. When you miss a step, or drop the ball for a moment, think about all you’ve accomplished up to this point. Don’t let it all go bad because of one small mistake.
- Stick with it! There will be roadbumps in achieving your goals, for sure. But don’t give up. Roll with those bumps and keep going!
You’ve got this!
