So we talked a little about the how we need to support more diversity in the authors who are writing in publishing. But how about in the characters we read?

Romance Books Need to Give More Characters of Color Some Love
I also think it’s important to mention here that when we say “of color”, we are referring not only to African-American authors, or heroines, but those from all around the world. Romance books give us a chance to escape, but also to follow the life of a different person. What a wonderful way to learn about diversity, then by becoming enmeshed in the life of a character who comes from a completely different background than yourself? And don’t forget, diversity also includes a variety of religions, the LGBTQ community and more! We’ll focus more on that on Friday!
