Today at Mika Jolie’s blog, we welcome the beautiful Aubrey Phillips from Only Love.
Only Love is a great collaboration between two talented authors, Victoria H. Smith and Raven St. Pierre.
Mika: Welcome Aubrey.
Aubrey: (Smiles) Thank you.
Mika: I’m glad you agreed to stop by my blog today. Please make yourself comfortable. Feel free to pass on any question that makes you uncomfortable.
(Laughter between us)
Mika: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Aubrey: I’d have to say my greatest achievement has been raising my daughter on my own while not losing sight of my goals. I have to admit, it’s been a struggle managing work, my daughter, and school, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Giving up isn’t an option. Never has been.
Mika: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Aubrey: Perfect happiness for me would be having peace and balance in my life. This is something I’ve longed for since childhood.
Mika: Do you have any secrets you want to share that were not revealed in Only Love?
Aubrey: I’m not one to keep secrets. Life is complicated enough without them. I keep my personal business personal, but not to the point that I hide who I am.
Mika: Do you have any siblings? If so, will we have an opportunity to get to know them better?
Aubrey: No siblings that I know of, but seeing as how I don’t know my father, I could be totally wrong about that.
Mika: Any particular scene you enjoyed the most?
Aubrey: I love seeing my daughter, Marissa, happy. For this reason, my favorite times are the moments she spends with Adam. He’s just a good man and I think Marissa realized this even before I did.
Mika: What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Aubrey: Hands down – strength. It’s on us to hold our families together and that can be one of the hardest jobs in the world. Life experiences have made me extremely independent, almost to a fault, but I’m learning that it’s okay to lean on other people sometimes. With a little help from Adam, I’m starting to catch on.
Mika: What is the quality you most like in a man?
Aubrey: Honesty. Being real with the people you love is the easiest way to keep relationships strong–all relationships. If I can’t take a person at their word, I shut down right away.
Mika: Is your hero a good kisser?
Aubrey: A lady isn’t supposed to kiss and tell, but between you and me… Yesssssss!
Mika: What is your greatest fear?
Aubrey: My greatest fear would have to be not being able to take care of my family. As a single mom, my daughter’s wellbeing is my responsibility. Not to mention, Gabby, my 15 year-old neighbor who I love like she’s my own. They depend on me. For one reason or another, I’m all they have. I don’t know what I’d do if I failed them.
Mika: Thanks so much for your time and I wish you, Marissa and Adam a lifetime of happiness.
